Marinated Tofu, this will be one of the three summer foods we will be releasing. There will be three in total,so stay tuned for that.
This is another Korean recipe inspired by Maangchi: www.maangchi.com. This summery recipe is the perfect combination of sweet and spicy and it is perfect for a picnic outing, potluck (tested) and basically summer activities that requires food. I feel like dancing every time I taste this tofu recipe; even tofu haters love this recipe.
Tofu is an amazing food, also a master of disguise. It can turn into a savoury dish or a sweet dessert, basically if you are willing to experiment with tofu you can yield lots of creative recipes.
This is really easy to make if you follow the steps.
Ingredient:
(For one pack of tofu)
- Tofu
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
For sauce
- ½ Water
- 2 Tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 Tbsb Korean hot pepper paste (Gojujang)
- 1 Tbsp Sesame oil
- 2 Tsp garlic powder
- 2 Tsp Onion powder
- 2 Tbsp Honey
- 2Tbsp Hot chili sauce
Direction
First you would have to drain the tofu thoroughly, I encourage you to use whatever technique you have for pressing out excess liquid from tofu. Cut up the pressed tofu into smaller pieces, this make it easier to fry.
Heat up olive oil in a pan and add the tofu, turn regularly to make sure all sides are crisp, the tofu is ready when the tofu is brown on the sides. Remove from heat.
For the sauce, all you have to do it dump all the ingredient in a bowl and stir the mixture.
Set another saucepan on medium heat, pour the sauce into the pan then add fried tofu. Stir it around to coat all the tofu with the sauce, then cover it for 3-5 minutes.
After the allotted time, open the pan and check the tofu, you would notice that most of the water is evaporated and the sauce is thickening. Give it a quick stir and cover for another minute.
After the minute is over the tofu is ready, just stir it around one more time and serve.
Simple and delicious recipe for any summer event.
Stay Healthy this scorching summer,
Sandy.
